The album was produced by Rob Evans, who also worked on the track "Madman's Eyes," road-tested at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, in November 2021. The album includes a blend of Middle Eastern influences with horns and strings and features lyrics that ask, "When it's too late to untwist the knife/How do we face hatred with love inside us." The album was executive produced by long-time collaborator John Alagia, with Evans working on most of its tracks.
